Can an Iphone have a background program to ftp any new photos to an ordinary web site ftp folder?

Since Iphone Safari does not do a form upload of an image [currently in Sept 2008], I want to send photos, as soon as they are taken, by ftp, to my site, where they could be handled by my server.

An overview of the iPhone on Orange

Want an iPhone on Orange? Want to know more about the iPhone on Orange before you actually decide to buy one? Well then this could be the most important web page you read before you actually commit yourself.

So, why should you decide that the iPhone 3GS is the one for you? Well, to start with the iPhone is not just a phone, it’s 3 devices wrapped up into one. Of course, it is a phone, but it is also a widescreen iPod and a fantastic little Internet device as well.

The iPhone as a phone. Now available on OrangeA mobile phone – The interface is known as the Multi-Touch interface which enables you to make a call by simply tapping the name or number of the person you wish to talk to from within your contacts or from your favourites list or your call log. In fact, anywhere you see a name or number; you can make a call quickly and easily. There is also a different approach to voicemail. The idea is to make it more like email, and so it has been made visual on the iPhone on Orange. This enables you to choose which messages to listen to and in which order.
The contacts area of your iPhone is not just a bunch of names and numbers. If you want to get directions to get you to one of your contacts, just tap their address and the Maps application is launched for you giving you the directions you need to save you from getting lost. You can also add an image to each contact so every time people that you know call you, you will see their picture on your handset. You can scroll through your contacts with a quick flick of your finger, or use the search facility to find someone’s name fast.
Each time you connect your iPhone to your PC or Mac and launch iTunes, you can sync your contacts so you always have the same information on both devices. If you would like to keep all your information up to date without having to do this, then you can sign up for a MobileMe account and synchronise wirelessly and automatically.
The iPhone also gives you the ability to talk to up to five callers at once by creating an instant conference call, very handy for planning a night out on the town!
Not happy with the ringtones on your iPhone from Orange? That’s fine, just download a new one directly to your handset from your iTunes account. You can even set a different ringtone for each of your contacts so you will know who is calling you before you even take your iPhone out of your pocket!

The iPhone as an iPod. Now available on OrangeAn iPod in Widescreen – You can really show off your content with the stunning 3.5 inch display on your iPhone on Orange. We are talking music, TV programmes, films, photo’s and more. Music and video can also be added to your collection by wirelessly downloading from the iTunes store. By using just the touch of your finger, you can scroll through playlists and songs, and even use the Cover Flow to browse your album artwork.
Want to play your songs in a random order? Just shake the iPhone and you’re done, all your songs in the chosen playlist are shuffled for you. If someone calls you while you are listening to your favourite track, then the music is put on pause for you until you are done, and answering the call is simple, just press the button on your headset microphone.
Do you use the Genie feature in iTunes? Well you can on the iPhone from Orange as well. Genius will make a playlist for you based on what’s in your music library. You can turn the feature on easily by using voice control. Just say “play more songs like this” and Genie will do the rest for you! If your not even sure which song to start off with, then just choose Genius Mixes and the iPhone will choose for you.

The iPhone for the Internet. Now available on OrangeInternet – Because the iPhone on Orange uses super fast 3G and Wi-Fi Internet connections, it is able to deliver rich HTML email, maps with GPS, and includes Safari which is the most advanced web browser available on a mobile handset. It has Yahoo! and Google search engines built in and because it has the ability to multitask, you can surf the web or email a friend whilst you are on a phone call thanks to the 3G and Wi-Fi connection options.
Safari allows you to see the real web, you don’t have to settle for a stripped down version made just for mobile phones. The iPhone from Orange will connect you to which ever network it has access to that is the fastest whether it be EDGE, 3G or a Wi-Fi network. If you want to take a closer look at something you have seen on a website, just double tap with your finger and the iPhone will zoom in for you. Turn the iPhone by 90 degrees, and the web page will turn with you allowing you to view in either portrait or landscape mode for a better viewing experience.
Your favourite site can also be accessed quickly and easily. You can ask the iPhone to create a home screen icon for your favourite sites. You favourites are also synchronised with your PC or Mac when you connect them together.

So you can see that the iPhone on Orange really does make life simple for you. Gone are the days when you search around comparing devices only to find that one does most things you want it to and another does the things the first one was missing but is still not giving you everything because it doesn’t do everything the first one does (if you can follow that!). The iPhone3GS gives you everything you want and all in one neat device. I really could go on for hours talking about how good this phone is, but you won’t really appreciate it until you have one of your own. So my recommendation is not to hesitate, and go and get your iPhone on Orange today!

Photos On Your iPhone

I don’t know about you, but I often find it useful to be able to take the odd photo while I’m out and about. The thing is I don’t want to have to carry a separate phone and digital camera all the time. Many phones that already have a camera built in are just not that good. This isn’t the case though for the iPhone 3GS. With a 3 Megapixel camera that has autofocus and an application for photos that makes sharing your shots simple, this has got to be the ideal phone for taking photos whenever a worthwhile opportunity arises.

Cameras in general are not that difficult to use these days, so you would expect your iPhone on Orange to have a camera that is also easy to use. Well, it does. All you have to do is point the iPhone in the general direction of the event you want to snap, and then tap the screen to take the shot. Your pictures are then added the iPhone Camera Roll for easy access. As with so many of the other iPhone applications, if you rotate the iPhone by 90 degrees, then you can enjoy your images in landscape mode. Just pinch with your fingers, or double tap an image and you can zoom in or out. Like the picture you have taken so much that it is worthy of being your phones wallpaper? You can easily do that too! One of the best bits about this camera that you don’t get with others is the geotagging of your photos. Yes, that’s right, when you come back to view your images at a later date, the iPhone 3GS can give you details of where they were taken. How cool is that!?

The camera does have autofocus, but if you find that it is focusing on something other than what you want to take a picture of, then you can tap the area you want to be in focus and the iPhone will do the rest for you. It also has a macro lens for taking close up pictures.

If you want to share any of your photos with other people, then select the image and the iPhone 3GS will open a blank email template with the image already attached, you just need to add the recipients details and any notes, then tap to send. If you didn’t want to email it, then you can also send via MMS. The other option you have is to upload the images to your MobileMe Gallery and your family and friends can view and download them from there.

When you synchronise your iPhone with iTunes, the images will be synchronised with Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Photoshop Album if you use a PC, or in iPhoto if you use a Mac. Also, any photos on your computer will be synchronised to your iPhone so you can view them and share them wherever you are.

email on your iPhone 3GS

If you want to access email on the move using your iPhone on Orange, then you can, and the best bit is, you don’t have to get yourself a new email address as you can use your old one. The look and feel of email on the iPhone 3GS is also very similar to that on your own personal computer. So, if you have an email account with suppliers such as Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, MobileMe or AOL, then you’re sorted! If you don’t have accounts with any of these, don’t worry as the iPhone 3GS supports most industry standard POP3 or IMAP email systems. Have more than one email account? That’s fine, you can have access to multiple accounts on the iPhone 3GS and it is very simple to move from one to the other.

If you want to gain access to your corporate email when you are away from the desk, then talk to your I.T department, as the iPhone on Orange will handle emails being pushed out from the business Microsoft Exchange email server straight to you, wherever you are! You don’t have to log in and synchronise at all, the iPhone will just go and look for email automatically and alert you whenever new mail arrives. This is great for you as you will know about email almost instantly, and have the ability to respond to those urgent emails without having to wait until you get back to the office!

Got an attachment in the email you just received? No challenge for the iPhone. Any Microsoft Office document will appear on your device in the original format, and that includes PDF documents. The 3GS is also happy with rich HTML email which means any images in an email will still appear in line with the text, just where the sender intended it to.

The keyboard for typing your replies is a software keyboard and reacts to you tapping on the screen of your device. You can simply turn the iPhone into landscape mode, and the keyboard will adjust for you giving you a better viewing experience and more ease of use. The software is so clever, it even predicts what you are going to type as soon as you begin, and will correct any silly mistakes for you as well. There is also a very simple method for you to cut, copy and paste text which makes using the iPhone on Orange a fantastic device for managing your email on the move.

Are you a heavy user of email? Got so many emails in your inbox that you get lost? Let the iPhone 3GS mail application help you out. If you know the sender, or recipient, or subject of an email you are looking for, then you will be able to use the search facility to get to the mail you are looking for much quicker. If the message isn’t on your iPhone, but is on your remote email server, then the 3GS can have a look there for you as well.

Another great little piece of functionality is that if you are searching the web on your iPhone 3GS and happen to come across and email address in the content, just tap it with your finger, and your iPhone will open a blank email for you that is preaddressed. The same of course applies if you come across a phone number, just tap it and the call is made for you!

Here is a short video clip to show you just how easy email on your iPhone really is.
